How to fuel a 42 km race Your pre-race diet should include familiar sources of simple and complex carbohydrate. On race morning, the source suggests 1.5–3 g of carbohydrate per kilogram of body mass and avoiding unusually high-fibre foods. After finishing, include fruit, vegetables and protein-rich foods. Use aid stations for regular small drinks of water. Plan carbohydrate loading for one or two days before the event. Test every product and the complete timing plan in training. Sports nutrition does not replace a varied, balanced diet. You may also use SiS GO Electrolyte before the race. The source suggests 500 ml after breakfast, approximately 2.5–3 hours before the start, followed by 150–200 ml between 30 and 90 minutes before the race.
